The interventions in the space due to the construction of MMP-Obrežje (entrance and exit plateau, overpass) represent a large and permanent intervention in the relief structure of the space, so the relief is formed as a continuous transition into the existing terrain. By summarizing the "softness of the relief", we tried to integrate the complex into the existing environment as much as possible. Planting vegetation in clusters further emphasizes the softness of the relief, and the arrangement of tall poplars in the parking areas creates a green volume that reduces the negative effect of extensive asphalt surfaces. The planned planting will not obscure the views of Mokrice Castle and the Church of St. Margaret, which are spatial dominants of the wider area.
The complex's facilities cover specific programs related to border crossing procedures. With Croatia's entry into the EU, these programs will be abandoned; according to the competition materials, the complex should operate in the given functional scheme for 10-15 years. The depreciation and life span of both the function and the physical presence of the facilities should not significantly exceed the above-mentioned period. Finding an expression in the "staking out" of the border forever and adapting eternal objects to new functions is not appropriate in this case. We opt for architecture that establishes transience as part of the expression. In this way, it is more susceptible to the phenomena of today (the house as a medium or even a paraphrase of a marketing message).
The passenger entry and exit canopy is an element of the highest memorability for passengers - for locals it represents an object of identity, for guests it is an element of promotion. In any case, the canopy is an element with the highest added value. By designing the canopy, we provide a modular element, consisting of carefully manufactured prefabricated elements, which can have a higher level of processing and higher quality details due to almost serial production. The module with a floor plan of 10/10m is multiplied to the necessary dimension and can be used at all locations of future border crossings with Croatia. The canopy of high-quality architectural expression becomes part of the overall image.
